Phone Accessories: Which Ones Are Worth Buying
Cases, screen protectors, power banks and chargers — where spending more helps and where it does nothing.

Phone accessories are sold on fear: crack your screen, kill your battery, lose your data. Some of that spending genuinely protects an expensive device, and some of it is pure margin. Prices below are current merchant listings.
What to look for
Power banks: divide by 1.5. Cells are rated at 3.7V but charge your phone at 5V, and conversion wastes energy. A 20,000mAh bank realistically delivers 12,000–14,000mAh. Any listing implying four full charges of a 5,000mAh phone is arithmetic you should check.
Chargers: match the protocol. PD (Power Delivery) is the universal fast-charging standard. Proprietary standards like VOOC or SuperVOOC only reach full speed with the manufacturer's own adaptor and cable. A 65W third-party charger may deliver 18W to a phone expecting a proprietary handshake.
Screen protectors: buy the fit, not the hardness. Every tempered glass on the market is 9H — that is the maximum on the pencil hardness scale and effectively a meaningless differentiator. What varies is whether the cutouts line up and whether the oleophobic coating survives a month.
